New single release “Ma Belle Amie”

The Skankin’ Monks build bridges between past and present, between different genres and nationalities. The Amsterdam reggae band recorded a steamy version of their ‘homegrown’ killer classic Smoke With The Pope with their hero Eek-A-Mouse. In addition, the monks mixed the André Hazes classic She Believes In Me for Jah6, and they also produced the dub version. But this is nothing compared to the stunt the men pulled off this time!

For their latest CD they sank their teeth in Ma Belle Amie, one of the biggest hits in the history of Dutch pop music. Worldwide, this Tee-Set classic sold over seven million copies, with more than one million copies sold in the U.S. and Canada alone.

The song is carved in our collective musical memory so strongly, that you must be crazy to record a new version. But that’s exactly what The Skankin’ Monks have done. The result sounds so fruity and fresh that it seems like the song was written only yesterday.

For their painstaking work The Skankin’ Monks have used the original vocal tracks that singer Peter Tetteroo sang in 1969. When you hear his beautiful dark brown soul voice, it does not seem like he has died nine years ago already (on 9/9), but simply enjoyed of a long holiday in Jamaica.

The result is put into a super production by Sander Baas, the sound wizard who was responsible for the platinum award-winning, first – and only – No. 1 hit from Rob de Nijs: Banger Hart. Surprise yourself with Ma Belle Amie 2011.

The single is now available :Free Record ShopZazellMedia Gigant and many more portals.
There is also a CD Single available on : Centertainment for only € 4.99
